What Happened?: 

When playwright David Mamet and magician Ricky Jay come to Hirschfeld's studio to sit for portrait to run in the New York Times, their conversation with Hirschfeld proves to be so interesting that the paper runs it instead of a regular article.

Hirschfeld's last drawing for the New York Times, of Tommy Tune in White Tie and Tails, appears on December 15, six weeks shy of the 75th anniversary of his first drawing in January 1928.
